About I Got Evicted

Everyone has been down on their luck at one point or another in their lives. Whether it's losing a job, dealing with a significant loss (be it physical or financial). For many the economic crash that began years ago was a precursor of things to come While nationwide layoffs and a subsequent hiring slump sent many homeowners into foreclosure. another group of Americans received far less adulation, fanfare and pity. THE EVICTED!

With sub prime loans, shady 'truth in lending' statements, overzealous lending agents and desperate future homeowners purchasing homes they wanted but couldn't afford, a nation was left unprepared for the fallout that was sure to come.  But there was another group who faced hard times as well. While homeowners received pity, bailouts and a slew of other incentives and breaks aimed at keeping them in their homes, renters facing eviction and possible homelessness were left to their own devices.

Often branded as undesirable or down right vilified, what options are available to those who were also in danger of losing their homes? With the only difference between those facing foreclosure and those facing eviction is as simple as a lease and a mortgage. Like most homeowners, renters are good natured, hard working people with children, families, husbands, wives. People who have fallen prey to a roller coaster economy.

But while homeowners have dozens of laws on their side and up to 6 months to remain in their homes before the foreclosure process is complete. Many landlords can begin the eviction process as early as a few days after rent is due (depending on the state) leaving many renters facing eviction with a very small window to utilize viable alternatives. In recent years, this has changed a bit. Giving some equity to the rights of tenants as well as landlords. New laws and statutes implemented by local real estate commissions to prevent abuses by those in property management and restore rights to those tenants who might otherwise go unprotected.

We here at igotevicted.com are here to provide information on resources and assistance to those who have been evicted and are trying to establish themselves in the rental world again. As well as those who may be facing eviction and want to know what their options are.
